Background of Program Speakers

LISA P. GOLDSTEIN
Lisa serves as the Eastern and Southern Section Government Affairs Representative for the Medical Group Management Association. In this position, Lisa answers national member questions about technical details of federal legislative and regulatory issues and coordinates grassroots efforts by MGMA members. She also speaks before MGMA state and national meetings. She began her work with MGMA in April 2005.

Lisa has a background in state and federal public policy, having worked for the House of Representatives Committee on Government Reform and Committee on House Administration, as well as for the New York State Assembly. Additionally, Lisa has experience working with clients concerned with the HIP AA Privacy law and regulations, as well as with clients involved in the provision of pharmaceuticals and other products utilized in a health care setting. Lisa graduated from the University at Albany, State University of New York in Albany, New York with a B.A. in Political Science. She received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C and is a member of the New York State Bar, as well as the District of Columbia Bar.

MIKE SCHLAPPI
Mike Schlappi is president of Mike Shclappi Communications which provides motivation speaking and inspiration multimedia products for businesses and organizations. He is a CSP (Certified speaking Professional) from the National Speakers Associations - a designation awarded to less than 3% of professional speakers. Mike has been a member of the Board of Trustees for the 2002 Winter Olympics Games in Salt Lake City and is the author of two inspirations books, "Bulletproof Principles of Personal Success' and "Motivational Leaders". His life story was featured in the award winning video, "If You Can't Stand Up, Stand Out". Mike is the founder and director of the Wheelchair Sports Foundation, providing sports and recreation opportunities for disabled athletes. Mike is a four time Paralympics medalist in USA Men's Wheelchair Basketball and a two-time world champion in Wheelchair basketball. He was given the honor of the Olympic Torch Bearer for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games and Monoco Placard Bearer for the Opening Ceremonies. Besides being an athlete, Mike has a Masters Degree in Business Administration and Health Care from Arizona State University and an Undergraduate Degree in Finance from Brigham Young University.

DAVE JAKIELO
Dave Jakielo has over 30 years of hands on management experience. His background includes twelve years in hospital patient finance and, subsequently, over two decades of managing physician practices nationwide. Dave has been speaking, consulting and teaching business methods to managers, clerical staffs, business owners and other professionals throughout North America and in Europe and Asia. He has extensive experience in sales, marketing, customer service, business start-ups and turnarounds, due diligence process and acquisitions assimilation. He is co-author of four books: The Sales Coach, Tips from the Pros , Information Technology for the Practicing Physician , Real World Customer Service Strategies and Conversations on Success. He is also a regular columnist in the trade journals Billing and BC Advantage. Dave received his CHBME (Certified Healthcare Billing & Management Executive) in 1998. His professional membership includes being a Past President of the Healthcare Billing & Management Association (HBMA). In addition he is past President of the National Speakers Association - Pittsburgh Chapter and also holds membership in the International Brotherhood of Magicians. Dave is a graduate of University of Pittsburgh and received his Masters in Management from Carnegie Mellon University.He is a certified trainer and has trained at the Buckley School of Public Speaking. He is President of his own Seminar and Consulting Company.

MARK MAYFIELD
It's seldom that you find a really funny, clean comedian and it's seldom that you find a really good captivating speaker. It is nearly impossible to find one who is both. Mark Mayfield is one of the individuals in the world who is equally adept at performing stand up comedy or presenting high content speeches. He excites, educates and always entertains. Knows as the "Corporate Comedian" he has shared the stage with celebrities like Paul Newman, Peter Frampton, Colin Powell and Bob Newhart and has introduced the President of the United States on a live, nation wide television broadcast. He delivers nearly 100 presentations annually to conventions, trade associations and Fortune 500 companies and is the author of the popular book "Mom's Rules", a comedic yet poignant look at all those things mom said to us as kids.

Raised on a farm, he received two degrees Magna Cum Laude from Kansas State University, served as National President of the future Farmers of America, and spent time as a teacher, lobbyist, and nightclub owner. He is also a professional model and spokesman seen in print and television commercials. These experiences coupled with being the father of two daughters enable him to relate to all types of people. A national convention planner recently call Mark "one of the very few, really funny, inspiring men in America today".
